You might have noticed (well hopefully you did) that I took a little social media hiatus for the past couple of months. Well I have a good reason. Not only did I take a break from social media but I also took a break from working out and following an eating plan. Why? Well if you haven’t already heard…I’m pregnant! Yup! Bun in the oven. Knocked up. Now that reason alone is not an excuse for not working out and eating well and what does that have to do with social media? Well let me explain. The last week of June I wasn’t feeling well at all, I had worked out pretty hard one Saturday (double workout with pre & post workout, Shakeology & BIG Read More

A Love Letter To My Son

Happy Birthday Joaquin!   At this very moment a year ago I was hooked up to monitors at the hospital, getting no sleep. I was anxious, I was nervous, I was scared. I had been on bed rest for 6 weeks, I had been seeing a specialist for 5 months, I was scared. It was just you and me this whole time, yes your Daddy was there he was taking care of us; he was making sure we ate, he was making sure we were comfortable, he was providing for us and loving us but it was really just you and me. Daddy was asleep in the hospital while the nurses came in to check on us, he was stressed out and worried but he Read More

Why You Can’t Have It All

Let’s just be real here. You can’t have it all. You see that mom on tv that has breakfast with her family in the morning (full makeup and dressed for the day), goes off to work, comes home to a clean house, makes a yummy homemade dinner (in her heels probably) then goes to bed at a decent hour with her husband where they sit and talk about their day….my eyes are rolling just thinking about it.   You can’t have that life. It’s just not possible. Sure you DO in fact have the same hours in the day as Beyonce as that stupid meme will tell you but what it fails to tell you is that you DON’T have a personal stylist, someone to come Read More

Our Late Night Trip To The ER

We made it exactly 11 months without having to make an emergency trip to the ER. Minus the two weeks spent in the NICU and the ongoing constipation issue, Joaquin has been (knock on wood) pretty healthy. We’ve had a few different cases of the cold at home since he was born but nothing affected him. Maybe he built up some immunity while he lived at the NICU for the first two weeks of his life or maybe I’m just that good at disinfecting 🙂 either way, we’ve been lucky. But yesterday we had to do it, we took a family trip to the ER at midnight. My stepson was prepared with his tablet, charger and a book…way to plan ahead! Alex, who had been Read More

A Little Color

The boring beige walls in our house were starting to drive me crazy, I needed some color in my life! I wasn’t quite sure which way to go with a couple accent walls, bright and fun or warm and cozy. I’ve always loved gray’s and rich browns so after trying out some colorful samples that just didn’t feel right to me I decided to try out some warmer colors. At first I thought my brown/gray color choice, Complex Gray, was going to be too dark for the dimly lit hallway between the boys’ room (and I’m pretty sure no one else liked the choice either) after it was up and dry I LOVED it. I chose white accents on the wall that would really pop Read More

No Picasso Necessary

No Picasso necessary in our house! One day way back when I was pregnant, my then 10 year old, now 11 year old, niece Makayla brought over a picture she drew for her little unborn cousin. When I saw it I couldn’t believe how much time she must have spent on it, she said it was just some cars on a hill – well each little car had exhaust coming out, all of the wheels had rims, the cars had lights, the streets had lanes, I just couldn’t believe she drew this for a baby she hadn’t even met! My pregnancy hormones kicked in and I just knew right away that I had to save it and put it up in his room. Well, I Read More
