Wheel to Walk

As most of you know, my son Joaquin has some developmental delays – mainly gross motor delay.  A few months ago Joaquin’s physical therapist suggested some medical equipment to help get him mobile.  I was all for it! The process of getting the equipment wasn’t quite as easy as I’d hoped. We found the right piece of equipment, a Rifton Pacer Gait Trainer, but got some disappointing news from our insurance. Yes, medical equipment was covered but only AFTER we met the deductible and after that 80/20. Our high deductible ($2,000)  was basically the price of the gait trainer! We couldn’t believe it! We’re a one-income family of 5 and Joaquin’s medical bills have been piling high, we really didn’t know what to do. Joaquin’s occupational Read More

Healthy Lactation Cookies

All of us nursing mamas know that supply is everything! Some of us (gasp) want to get in shape and lose the baby weight but it can be a struggle to maintain supply while doing that. I was having a little trouble with supply and I started looking up ways to increase it. Lactation Cookies kept popping up but one thing I noticed was that I couldn’t find any healthy lactation cookies recipes. I tried a recipe that I loved, I played with it a bit and I adjusted it to make me feel better about incorporating them into my diet. Are they extremely healthy? Well, no. But they are healthier than what I was making and I think they are a good start! **affiliate links Read More

ThunderShirt Review

** My official ThunderShirt Review and does contain affiliate links. 4th of July. BBQ’s, sunshine and FIREWORKS. Sure I used to love fireworks when I was younger, mainly sparklers and smoke bombs, but now I have tiny ones that need to sleep and you know what I else I have….a dog. A dog that suffers from anxiety when there’s a storm and when there are fireworks, well, she’s straight up terrified and stressed! We live right in the middle of it all, just blocks away from the cities big fireworks show and neighbors all around shooting off aerial fireworks well past midnight. So I decided to buy her a Thundershirt. So let’s get into it. First, let’s talk about the Fit. I ordered a Medium Read More

Some Grace at 38 Weeks Pregnant

As you may have guessed I’m pretty tired right now and things are getting very awkward. Dilated to 5 and baby girl is extra low which is really no fun at all. On top of things being physically hard, I’ve also been really hard on myself this last week or so, more than I usually am. I’m in full nesting mode without the ability to actual “nest” my house is cluttered and unorganized and things are just too bulky for me to move around. It’s frustrating. I want to do it all, I want it all done yesterday and I just can’t. Plain and simple, I can’t. In this type of situation I would normally just call my mom and she’d have everything taken care Read More

Goal Crushin! Making 2017 My Best Year Yet!

It’s that time of year….people are starting to think about the New Year: what lies ahead for them, thinking about all the things they want to accomplish, maybe setting a new goal or two. New Years Resolutions may seem cliche but you have to admit there’s something about a fresh new calendar year that just makes you reevaluate and makes you believe that things can, in fact, be different. The problem I’ve had with New Years Resolutions (and the reason I rarely make any) is that they are just so hard to stick with. Just like the majority of people I start off strong then life gets in the way and I slowly start making excuses to not follow through. My fitness and health has Read More

Time Blocking – Making your time WORK for YOU!

I’ve been talking about Time Blocking and how it can work for a Stay At Home Mom  recently, but what exactly is Time Blocking? Put simply, its the process of blocking out specific times of the day for specific tasks. Or put in Stay At Home Mom speak, its a way to LOL at yourself for believing you can actually schedule your day ?! But… what if I told you….it kinda works? I’ve been on this “get organized, be productive” kick recently (and if you want to find out why you can head ➡️ here) but realized that at the end of the day I’m left feeling like nothing was accomplished and kinda wondering where my day went. I just started Time Blocking and can already see Read More

Today Was Tough

Since my son was born we’ve had our share of doctor appointments, ER visits, I mean we spent 13 days in the NICU. But today, today was tough. As I mentioned in a previous blog post I kept hearing a click in my little mans hips and our pediatrician referred us to an Orthopedic Specialist. I was really nervous going in to that appointment, I didn’t want to hear what they were going to tell me and I didn’t want to see any x-rays. Turns out my guy has some hip problems. Hip Dysplasia, well super early hip dysplasia. Basically if we don’t take steps to actively help him now he could have full on hip dysplasia when he gets older. His sockets are shallow, his Read More

Don’t Stress, Just Don’t Stress

I don’t know how many times I’ve heard that in the past couple of months. I really couldn’t count. I know, I know everyone means well and everyone just truly doesn’t want me to stress. Not so much for my well being (although I’m sure they care a little about that too) but because of this little baby in my belly. Pregnancy is no time to stress but you know what, life happens and sometimes things cause you to stress…especially when you are already prone to stressing out. So what’s up? Why the stress? Why can’t I just chill out? If you follow me on Facebook you’ll have seen that my little guy had a little bout of Bronchiolitis about a month ago and we Read More

Happy Reading

I LOVE BOOKS! And now that I’m a Mom I LOVE buying Joaquin books! Lucky for me Costco has an amazing inventory of kids books at such affordable prices. Best thing about it, I don’t ever feel like I’m wasting money on books! A few days ago I headed to Costco all by myself, it was seriously like I was on a mini vacation! My Mom was at home with my little man so I literally had all the time in the world to just browse and sip my decaf Pumpkin Spice Latte ?? Yes that is literally my life now, don’t judge me. But anyways…I started looking at the books because I really wanted to start working on ABC’s with my little guy. What Read More

Pregnancy, Take II

Pregnancy, the 2nd Time Around Now believe me, I’m no expert – but I did learn a lot about myself, my body and pregnancy the first time around. Specifically, I learned about what I don’t want to do again and what I’d do different if I ever got pregnant again and here’s what I came up with: Damnit, I’m going to NAP ? The first time around I felt this huge amount of guilt every time I took it easy and especially when I napped. What the heck was I napping for? I work from home which of course meant I should have the house spotless, dishes done, laundry folded…basically everything taken care of, I didn’t have time for naps! Oh no, not this time Read More
