Healthy Lactation Cookies

All of us nursing mamas know that supply is everything! Some of us (gasp) want to get in shape and lose the baby weight but it can be a struggle to maintain supply while doing that. I was having a little trouble with supply and I started looking up ways to increase it. Lactation Cookies kept popping up but one thing I noticed was that I couldn’t find any healthy lactation cookies recipes. I tried a recipe that I loved, I played with it a bit and I adjusted it to make me feel better about incorporating them into my diet. Are they extremely healthy? Well, no. But they are healthier than what I was making and I think they are a good start! **affiliate links Read More

The Easiest Way To Cook Sweet Potatoes ?

Look no further! This is THE easiest way to cook sweet potatoes! Are you like me and you know how healthy sweet potatoes are for you but you hate cooking them? Really, I hate cooking them. Typically I would go the way of baking, that seems to be what has worked best for me but holy cow it’s so hot outside I do not want the oven on right now! The new meal plan I’m following called for mashed sweet potatoes and yes, I’ve made mashed them before but I am just too busy to cook right now not to mention they are pretty noisy to chop and I’ve usually got babies sleeping.  So in came my handy dandy crock pot and let me tell Read More

My Body Beast Meal Plan

Let me start off by saying this is not an official meal plan of Body Beast. I’m excited to start the 12 Week Body Beast program but the eating plan looked like too much work and too much food! So this is a custom Body Beast Meal Plan I came up with, my calorie level has gone up so using the 21 Day Fix portion control containers I’m going to add an additional Green, Red and Yellow container to my current plan. I’m also going to give myself some room to add another Purple but I have a hard time reaching 2 purple containers so I’m trying to be realistic. So this is what my chart looks like 4 Green 2 Purple 5 Red 3 Read More

Let’s Meal Prep!

It’s taken me a few months to get this meal prep thing down and although I still have some work to do I think I’ve got a nice little routine going. You may be wondering if meal prepping is right for you, well only you can decide that but I can tell you that yes it takes extra work on the weekend but I literally cook nothing all week when I do this meal prep the right way. My breakfast is made, my snacks are ready, my lunch is ready and dinner is a salad that I just throw together. And keep in mind when I say that I don’t have to cook any meals all week I am strictly talking about cooking my own meals, Read More

Big Boy Food

Joaquin is now a year old! Still having a hard time wrapping my mom brain around that lol But it became pretty clear that I needed to start feeding him accordingly. I could tell he was getting tired of pears every morning so I knew I needed to switch things up. The problem was what? We haven’t had the best experience with apples and he definitely has some digestive issues…for a minute I even considered buying him already made food because I just wasn’t sure what to feed him! Alex and I took a trip to the Co-Op at the Village to check out their produce and I meandered over to their baby food section, prepared to convince Alex that we needed to just buy some. After I Read More

Protein Waffles

Happy Meal Prep Sunday!!   So many people have asked me about the protein waffles I make so I thought it was time to share the recipe with all of you! First let me tell you that these are so worth the time they take to make! The recipe looked a little difficult to me, it takes me a little while to get the egg whites just right and our waffle maker only makes two at a time; but these bad boys last my husband and I all week and they seriously power me through my morning!   If you’re following the 21 Day Fix program, 1 waffle is 1 yellow container. Here ya go! What You’ll Need: 2 Cups Oat Flour (grind raw oats in a Read More

Meal Prep’n

Tomorrow is Week 3, Round 2 of my 21 Day Fix and I’ll be honest I haven’t been doing great! I started Round 1 super motivated and after I hurt my back and had to sit out on W3 R1, I just never got back into the groove. I fell back into bad eating habits and even when my back felt better I didn’t workout every day. Hey, it happens. The way I see it I have 2 options. 1. I can say screw it and continue on with eating healthy when I feel like it and working out when it’s convenient or 2. I can just DO IT! I choose the latter. So to finish off R2 STRONG, today I did my meal prepping Read More

Not to be overly dramatic but, this sweet potato medley was everything! Power Breakfast

I found my new go to power breakfast! All you need is some bread, avocado, egg, a little seasoning and about 5 minutes!   Don’t just use any bread, look for bread that is also providing you with some good energy like Dave’s Killer Good Seed Bread; my absolute favorite and bonus, can be purchased at Costco!   Next, don’t get fancy with the avocado spread just open up an avocado and mash it up on your toasted bread using a fork – no salt you’ll get flavor from your yummy egg.   Follow that up with a healthy egg, I choose brown omega-3 rich eggs. Cook that bad boy over easy and sprinkle it with some sea salt, black pepper and red chili pepper Read More

Dip Baby Dip

Alex and I hosted Sunday Night Football this past week and although my Cowboys didn’t win these dips I made were definite winners!   The first dip is a Spinach Artichoke Dip I found on Tasty     By popular demand this dip will make an appearance for our families annual Christmas Eve slumber party! I don’t know about you but artichoke dip sounds hard. I’ve tried making artichokes before and it’s just a hassle so I never thought about trying to make dip, but once I saw this recipe on Tasty I knew I had to try it! So simple and so delicious. You won’t regret making this!   Here’s the recipe straight from the Tasty Facebook Page:   – 12 Frozen Dinner Roll Dough Read More
