3 Day Refresh Recap

It’s over! It’s finally over!! Only joking this cleanse was not so bad, I expected much worst. I expected to be hungry all day, to be in the bathroom all day and to be grouchy…well grouchier than usual 😉 But it is in fact, over. I finished my 3 Day Refresh yesterday and I really couldn’t be happier with the results and experience. So let’s talk about this 3 day cleanse and how it went! RECAP Well I already posted my Day 1 recap. I’m pretty sure Day 1 was the least “fun” I was craving all the food I couldn’t eat, I had a caffeine withdrawal headache, and I had that pain in my right side but it wasn’t unbearable. Day 2 was much Read More

Big Boy Food

Joaquin is now a year old! Still having a hard time wrapping my mom brain around that lol But it became pretty clear that I needed to start feeding him accordingly. I could tell he was getting tired of pears every morning so I knew I needed to switch things up. The problem was what? We haven’t had the best experience with apples and he definitely has some digestive issues…for a minute I even considered buying him already made food because I just wasn’t sure what to feed him! Alex and I took a trip to the Co-Op at the Village to check out their produce and I meandered over to their baby food section, prepared to convince Alex that we needed to just buy some. After I Read More

Why You Can’t Have It All

Let’s just be real here. You can’t have it all. You see that mom on tv that has breakfast with her family in the morning (full makeup and dressed for the day), goes off to work, comes home to a clean house, makes a yummy homemade dinner (in her heels probably) then goes to bed at a decent hour with her husband where they sit and talk about their day….my eyes are rolling just thinking about it.   You can’t have that life. It’s just not possible. Sure you DO in fact have the same hours in the day as Beyonce as that stupid meme will tell you but what it fails to tell you is that you DON’T have a personal stylist, someone to come Read More

Bye Bye Baby Weight

Peeps, I’m not about weight loss. I really am not! I’m a firm believer in measuring results by how you feel, how you look in the mirror, how your clothes fit, are you getting stronger and do you have more energy. Now with that being said…I AM going to celebrate the fact that as of Sunday I am 7 lbs below my PRE PREGNANCY weight…yes you read that correctly. I weigh 7 lbs LESS than what I weighed before I got pregnant! Now if I’m not into checking the scale why am I celebrating this? Well because guys, I’ve been working hard at this and it just goes to show that this program is working for me!! How exciting! I’m eating more food than I ever have and I Read More

Our Late Night Trip To The ER

We made it exactly 11 months without having to make an emergency trip to the ER. Minus the two weeks spent in the NICU and the ongoing constipation issue, Joaquin has been (knock on wood) pretty healthy. We’ve had a few different cases of the cold at home since he was born but nothing affected him. Maybe he built up some immunity while he lived at the NICU for the first two weeks of his life or maybe I’m just that good at disinfecting 🙂 either way, we’ve been lucky. But yesterday we had to do it, we took a family trip to the ER at midnight. My stepson was prepared with his tablet, charger and a book…way to plan ahead! Alex, who had been Read More

One Small Step

Guys, I cut down my sugar intake in my coffee by HALF in two weeks…and guess what? No one died, my husband still loves me, I’m still functioning!!! For the past two months I’ve been trying, with no success, to quit drinking coffee. Not because of the coffee but because of the sugar! Anything less than 3 generous spoonfuls of sugar in 1 cup of coffee was completely unacceptable…yes I said 3 spoonfuls! Multiply that by 3 cups of coffee, well you see where I’m going!  Coffee is the only time I regularly have sugar, throughout the day I don’t often crave sugar (I’m more of a salty snack kind of girl) so how was I going to cut out sugar without cutting out coffee Read More

A Little Color

The boring beige walls in our house were starting to drive me crazy, I needed some color in my life! I wasn’t quite sure which way to go with a couple accent walls, bright and fun or warm and cozy. I’ve always loved gray’s and rich browns so after trying out some colorful samples that just didn’t feel right to me I decided to try out some warmer colors. At first I thought my brown/gray color choice, Complex Gray, was going to be too dark for the dimly lit hallway between the boys’ room (and I’m pretty sure no one else liked the choice either) after it was up and dry I LOVED it. I chose white accents on the wall that would really pop Read More

Meal Prep’n

Tomorrow is Week 3, Round 2 of my 21 Day Fix and I’ll be honest I haven’t been doing great! I started Round 1 super motivated and after I hurt my back and had to sit out on W3 R1, I just never got back into the groove. I fell back into bad eating habits and even when my back felt better I didn’t workout every day. Hey, it happens. The way I see it I have 2 options. 1. I can say screw it and continue on with eating healthy when I feel like it and working out when it’s convenient or 2. I can just DO IT! I choose the latter. So to finish off R2 STRONG, today I did my meal prepping Read More

No Picasso Necessary

No Picasso necessary in our house! One day way back when I was pregnant, my then 10 year old, now 11 year old, niece Makayla brought over a picture she drew for her little unborn cousin. When I saw it I couldn’t believe how much time she must have spent on it, she said it was just some cars on a hill – well each little car had exhaust coming out, all of the wheels had rims, the cars had lights, the streets had lanes, I just couldn’t believe she drew this for a baby she hadn’t even met! My pregnancy hormones kicked in and I just knew right away that I had to save it and put it up in his room. Well, I Read More

Baby Food Makin’ Carrots Edition

Carrots weren’t planned. I had to buy carrots for a recipe and had a few left over and I thought “why not?”, it’s not that carrots aren’t healthy but they just weren’t “fun”. I wanted to do pears, sweet potatoes…but it happened, I made carrots and my little man loves them. So far I think his preference is 1. Zucchini 2. Carrots 3. Applesauce. I’ve kept applesauce as his 1st solid food feeding of the day so maybe he’s just tired of them and is excited to try something new, I’m not sure but man oh man do I get some smiles when he’s eating zucchini and now that we’ve thrown carrots in it’s almost as if he’s yelling at me during his feeding because Read More
