Books

Happy Reading

I LOVE BOOKS! And now that I’m a Mom I LOVE buying Joaquin books! Lucky for me Costco has an amazing inventory of kids books at such affordable prices. Best thing about it, I don’t ever feel like I’m wasting money on books! A few days ago I headed to Costco all by myself, it was seriously like I was on a mini vacation! My Mom was at home with my little man so I literally had all the time in the world to just browse and sip my decaf Pumpkin Spice Latte 💁🏻 Yes that is literally my life now, don’t judge me. But anyways…I started looking at the books because I really wanted to start working on ABC’s with my little guy. What Read More

Napping

Pregnancy, Take II

Pregnancy, the 2nd Time Around Now believe me, I’m no expert – but I did learn a lot about myself, my body and pregnancy the first time around. Specifically, I learned about what I don’t want to do again and what I’d do different if I ever got pregnant again and here’s what I came up with: Damnit, I’m going to NAP 💤 The first time around I felt this huge amount of guilt every time I took it easy and especially when I napped. What the heck was I napping for? I work from home which of course meant I should have the house spotless, dishes done, laundry folded…basically everything taken care of, I didn’t have time for naps! Oh no, not this time Read More

Surprise!

You might have noticed (well hopefully you did) that I took a little social media hiatus for the past couple of months. Well I have a good reason. Not only did I take a break from social media but I also took a break from working out and following an eating plan. Why? Well if you haven’t already heard…I’m pregnant! Yup! Bun in the oven. Knocked up. Now that reason alone is not an excuse for not working out and eating well and what does that have to do with social media? Well let me explain. The last week of June I wasn’t feeling well at all, I had worked out pretty hard one Saturday (double workout with pre & post workout, Shakeology & BIG Read More

Big Boy Food

Joaquin is now a year old! Still having a hard time wrapping my mom brain around that lol But it became pretty clear that I needed to start feeding him accordingly. I could tell he was getting tired of pears every morning so I knew I needed to switch things up. The problem was what? We haven’t had the best experience with apples and he definitely has some digestive issues…for a minute I even considered buying him already made food because I just wasn’t sure what to feed him! Alex and I took a trip to the Co-Op at the Village to check out their produce and I meandered over to their baby food section, prepared to convince Alex that we needed to just buy some. After I Read More

A Love Letter To My Son

Happy Birthday Joaquin!   At this very moment a year ago I was hooked up to monitors at the hospital, getting no sleep. I was anxious, I was nervous, I was scared. I had been on bed rest for 6 weeks, I had been seeing a specialist for 5 months, I was scared. It was just you and me this whole time, yes your Daddy was there he was taking care of us; he was making sure we ate, he was making sure we were comfortable, he was providing for us and loving us but it was really just you and me. Daddy was asleep in the hospital while the nurses came in to check on us, he was stressed out and worried but he Read More

Why You Can’t Have It All

Let’s just be real here. You can’t have it all. You see that mom on tv that has breakfast with her family in the morning (full makeup and dressed for the day), goes off to work, comes home to a clean house, makes a yummy homemade dinner (in her heels probably) then goes to bed at a decent hour with her husband where they sit and talk about their day….my eyes are rolling just thinking about it.   You can’t have that life. It’s just not possible. Sure you DO in fact have the same hours in the day as Beyonce as that stupid meme will tell you but what it fails to tell you is that you DON’T have a personal stylist, someone to come Read More

Our Late Night Trip To The ER

We made it exactly 11 months without having to make an emergency trip to the ER. Minus the two weeks spent in the NICU and the ongoing constipation issue, Joaquin has been (knock on wood) pretty healthy. We’ve had a few different cases of the cold at home since he was born but nothing affected him. Maybe he built up some immunity while he lived at the NICU for the first two weeks of his life or maybe I’m just that good at disinfecting 🙂 either way, we’ve been lucky. But yesterday we had to do it, we took a family trip to the ER at midnight. My stepson was prepared with his tablet, charger and a book…way to plan ahead! Alex, who had been Read More

Back Off Germs

My stepson is sick, poor guy. We just got back from the doctor and luckily it’s nothing serious but he is running a 101 fever, has a bad cough, vomiting, can’t eat…oh and did I mention he’s contagious? So he’s in bed and I have a grocery list out to Alex on all the things he needs to get: Jello, Childrens Meds, Ginger Ale..all the fun stuff. (Actually jello sounds pretty fun!) He’s being well taken care of and as long as his fever doesn’t get worst, he’ll be just fine. Before Joaquin was born I would have been like “no problem, let me at this sick kid I’ll have it taken care of in no time and so what if I get sick!”…not now! Now Read More

DIY Wooden Frame Project

No Picasso Necessary

No Picasso necessary in our house! One day way back when I was pregnant, my then 10 year old, now 11 year old, niece Makayla brought over a picture she drew for her little unborn cousin. When I saw it I couldn’t believe how much time she must have spent on it, she said it was just some cars on a hill – well each little car had exhaust coming out, all of the wheels had rims, the cars had lights, the streets had lanes, I just couldn’t believe she drew this for a baby she hadn’t even met! My pregnancy hormones kicked in and I just knew right away that I had to save it and put it up in his room. Well, I Read More

21 Day Fix

21 Day Fix Part 1

I’m halfway into Round 1 of 21 Day Fix! Today marks Day 12 and I’m out with an injury so unfortunately I missed out on today’s workout. The good news is that missing this workout really bums me out. Why is this good news? Well because that means I’m actually looking forward to working out! The past couple of years I have dreaded working out, I had the time I had the resources but I just didn’t want to do it, and I felt like crap. The longer I went without working out the more miserable I became. So the fact that I’m bummed I couldn’t do today’s Dirty 30 workout (which is killer) is a great sign! So let me recap some of my Read More
