Becoming a Mom has changed my entire world, I never knew how much one tiny little person can change your whole life. My son gives me joy every single day, his little smile, the way his face lights up when he sees me, watching him play with our cats and dog…not a day goes by that I’m not grateful that I get to stay home every day with him and watch him grow up.

He was born almost a year ago (gah! where did time go!!) and in that year, he’s been my top priority. I remember the carefree days when I used to hit the gym twice a day, wake up at 6 am feeling refreshed, go to bed early when I wanted…but now there’s no way any of that happens! Joaquin has always been a pretty good sleeper but teething means he’s up screaming multiple times a night, I’m up when he’s up and most of the time I’m not able to fall right back to sleep when he does. And going to the gym? Well I’ve thought about it, I miss the gym. I miss the equipment; but packing up the baby to hit the gym, paying for childcare while I’m there? No. It’s just not in the cards for me. So what was I going to do? I desperately needed to get back into shape for a number of reasons. During the past year I lost myself in motherhood, I needed to get ME back. I also struggled with some baby blues and I knew a healthy lifestyle would help with that. I had been watching my friend Shaylinn (who had a baby just two months before me) she was doing this crazy Beachbody thing (a pyramid scheme I suspected) but she was working out all the time – with her baby! – she was going on trips, she looked great and she looked…HAPPY! I wanted that. I wanted to be happy with myself, be happy FOR myself and be happy for my family. So I started doing some research. I’ve always been against at home workouts, how can you really get a good workout in at home, so I thought. I already had an at home business, could I handle another one? I had also tried Shakeology years ago, maybe 2009, but at that time I was working two jobs, in a bad relationship where I was the sole provider, living paycheck to paycheck and my health wasn’t a priority so I stopped drinking it even though I loved it. So after doing A LOT of research, asking Shaylinn A LOT of questions and talking constantly with my husband I decided that this was something I needed to do, for myself and for my family.

Since making the decision to sign up with Beachbody I have seen so many positive changes, I feel better, the workouts are killer, I have more energy and health/fitness has become such a priority. It’s not only changing my life but my family is getting the benefits too! My husband is eating healthier, my step son asks lots of questions about healthy eating, points out why he should or shouldn’t eat something and he’s even worked out with me! My fitness journey is also having an effect on my family outside of our home! I’m constantly talking about meal prepping with my family; we get together a lot and workout tips, new recipes… all topics of conversation these days! Some of my siblings have been over for dinner when I’ve cooked something healthy and they don’t even realize it! And can you believe,  I’ve even had people message me on social media to tell me that I have motivated them to be healthier and that’s completely amazing!! Me?! I’m motivating people! It’s such a great feeling!

A year ago I was 8 months pregnant and on bed rest, so much has changed in that year but what really inspires me to go all in with my health and fitness journey is that, to date (April 4th), all the baby weight (+ 7 pounds!) is gone, baby blues are a thing of the past and April 4th marks Day 1 of my very first Fitness Challenge, #SummerStrong. I’m so excited for how my life has changed and how I’ve become a better mom and better wife all because I decided  to step out of my comfort zone and make the decision to live my best life.
